Salary: £55,608 – £60,443 (a market supplement may also be available for the post) | Type: Permanent post
Location: Orkney | Hours: Full and part-time applications welcomed.

We are looking for a Senior Process Engineer to be responsible for hydrogen production and fuelling infrastructure at both client and EMEC owned sites. The Senior Process Engineer will support the design, development, operation, safety and continual improvement of hydrogen production.

The Senior Process Engineer will develop and maintain a detailed understanding of EMEC’s hydrogen plant and equipment, including process design documents, process calculations and the provision of maintenance schedules. You will act as a subject matter expert for hydrogen generation, compression, storage and dispensing systems, with involvement in process design safety studies.

You will work across the company to ensure the correct specification of hydrogen process plant equipment, identifying reliable suppliers and assisting the Commercial Team in preparing quotations, bids and other associated documentation for clients and projects. Working with the Operations team, you will be first point of contact for troubleshooting efforts and provide guidance in how the overall system and equipment is meant to operate. This will involve the creation of plant compliance documentation and company technical literature such as risk assessments, manuals, maintenance procedures and other reports.

The Senior Process Engineer will deliver into EMEC’s hydrogen-related projects, scoping out technical specifications and driving engagement with technical leads to understand R&D priorities.

Educated to degree level in a chemical, process, industrial or engineering discipline, you will possess excellent communication and numeracy skills, with uncompromising dedication to operational safety. A minimum of 5 years’ working experience in a process / chemical plant involving High Pressure Systems (250 bar and up) is essential.

Experience in the renewable energy sectors, ideally in hydrogen technology would be advantageous, but is not essential. The ability to manage complex projects involving gas processing or dispensing equipment would also be advantageous to the applicant.
